JOHOR BAHRU — The Johor Road Transport Department (JPJ) has collected RM1.17 million in summonses related to vehicle emission permit breaches between January and October this year, according to department records released this week.
A total of 7,804 summonses were issued during the ten-month period as enforcement officers intensified checks on motorists operating vehicles without valid emission permits or those failing to meet emission standards. The violations represent a significant portion of the department's compliance operations targeting environmental regulations on state roads.
The enforcement drive underscores JPJ's commitment to monitoring vehicle emission standards and ensuring motorists maintain valid permits in compliance with Malaysian environmental regulations. Officers have been deployed across major routes and urban centres throughout Johor to conduct roadside inspections and verification checks.
The fines collected contribute to the state's broader air quality management initiatives. Authorities have indicated that continued enforcement of vehicle emission requirements remains a priority to reduce pollution levels and protect public health across Johor communities.
