KUALA LUMPUR — The Regent of Johor received senior officials from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission on Tuesday at the royal residence in Johor Bahru. The meeting between Tunku Mahkota Ismail and the MACC leadership came as the anti-graft agency continues its enforcement activities across the country.
The audience at Istana Pasir Pelangi included the MACC chief as well as the newly appointed state director for Johor. The appointment of the new director represents part of ongoing changes within the commission's structure as it seeks to strengthen its operations in the state.
The meeting underscores the importance of coordination between royal institutions and the MACC in matters concerning governance and integrity. Such engagements are customary protocol in Malaysia's constitutional framework, allowing for dialogue between the crown and key law enforcement agencies.
The MACC, which operates under the Prime Minister's purview, has maintained its focus on investigating corruption-related matters involving both public and private sector officials. The Johor office remains a significant operation for the commission given the state's size and economic importance within Malaysia.
