Johor Schools Shut for Two Days as Haze Deteriorates

Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has directed the closure of schools throughout the state for two days as air quality continues to decline amid ongoing haze concerns affecting the region.

Executive Councillor Dr Naqib Ghazali announced the closure order, which reflects growing alarm over hazardous air quality levels impacting the state. The decision follows intensifying haze conditions that have affected visibility and air quality across Johor in recent days.

The school closures are intended to minimise exposure risk for students, teachers and school staff during the period of poor air quality. Educational authorities have been instructed to implement the directive across all schools in the state.

The haze situation in Johor is part of a broader air quality crisis affecting parts of South and Southeast Asia. Regional monitoring agencies have been tracking pollution levels as weather patterns and transboundary atmospheric conditions continue to degrade air quality in affected areas.
