Johor-Singapore SEZ attracts RM88.8 billion in approved investments

Malaysia's Economy Minister Akmal Nasir announced that the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) has attracted RM88.8 billion in approved investments, marking significant progress for the cross-border development initiative.

Of the total approved investments, RM40.30 billion—representing nearly 45% of the committed capital—have already been realised and deployed into the zone's operations and infrastructure development.

The JS-SEZ, a joint venture between Malaysia and Singapore, has emerged as a key economic driver for the region since its establishment. The substantial investment levels reflect growing confidence from both domestic and international investors in the zone's strategic location and business environment.

The realisation rate indicates steady implementation of projects within the special economic zone, which aims to create employment opportunities and drive economic growth across the Johor region. Officials have attributed the progress to streamlined regulatory frameworks and competitive incentives designed to attract manufacturing, logistics, and technology sector investments.

The continued inflow of capital into the JS-SEZ underscores the initiative's role in strengthening Malaysia's position as a regional economic hub and deepening bilateral economic cooperation with Singapore.
