Johor to distribute 5,000 Yes 5G SIM packs to B40 students

Johor has launched a programme to provide 5,000 students from B40 households with free Yes 5G SIM packs, addressing connectivity barriers that have historically limited access to digital educational resources among lower-income families in the state.

Each SIM card bundle includes 50GB of high-speed internet data at no cost to recipients, enabling students to download course materials, attend virtual classes, and participate in online learning platforms without incurring data charges. The initiative recognises the critical role connectivity plays in ensuring equitable access to education, particularly in an increasingly digital learning environment.

The programme targets Johor's most economically vulnerable student populations, where limited household resources may otherwise prevent engagement with online educational tools. By removing financial barriers to internet access, the initiative seeks to ensure that economic circumstances do not impede academic progress or opportunity.

The distribution of SIM packs represents a collaborative effort to support educational equity across the state, with officials emphasising the importance of digital inclusion in enabling all students to participate fully in modern learning systems.
