NEW YORK — Iva Jovic of the United States defeated Alexandra Eala of the Philippines 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 in a closely contested second-round match at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Saturday, progressing to the fourth round of the US Open.
The 18-year-old American's victory came after more than three hours of intense play, during which both players demonstrated exceptional skill and determination. Jovic won the opening set 7-5 before Eala equalised with a 6-3 victory in the second. The decisive third set saw Jovic eventually prevail 7-5 to secure her place in the tournament's later stages.
