KUALA LUMPUR — The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is intensifying efforts to identify and apprehend individuals and groups operating unlicensed motorcycle taxi services around the Sepang International Circuit, particularly during major motorsport events.
The enforcement action targets operators who are illegally transporting passengers to and from the circuit without proper licensing, insurance, or compliance with transport regulations. These informal ride services operate outside the regulated transportation framework, creating potential safety hazards for both passengers and other road users.
JPJ officials have indicated that the department is working systematically to track down these unregistered operators and eliminate the illegal transport network. The operation forms part of broader efforts to ensure all passenger transportation services comply with Malaysian transport laws and safety standards.
Motorsport events at Sepang attract substantial crowds, creating demand for various transport options. However, JPJ emphasises that only licensed and authorised transport operators meeting legal requirements should provide passenger services in the area.
Members of the public are encouraged to report suspected illegal motorcycle taxi operations to JPJ authorities through official channels. Passengers are also advised to use only licensed and registered transport services to ensure their safety and legal protection.
