JPJ to maintain luxury car crackdown as seizures top RM550 million

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has announced it will maintain its enforcement drive against unregistered luxury vehicles, with cumulative seizures now exceeding RM550 million since the operation commenced in June 2025.

A senior JPJ official attributed the high volume of vehicles caught during the crackdown to widespread reluctance among luxury car owners to renew their road tax at department offices. The official noted that many owners have been blacklisted for various traffic and administrative offences, creating a disincentive to engage with authorities.

Operation Luxury targets vehicles that have failed to maintain current road tax and registration, with enforcement teams conducting regular patrols and checks across the country. The sustained seizure figures suggest that non-compliance remains a significant issue among owners of high-value vehicles.

JPJ's continued focus on the operation reflects efforts to ensure all vehicles on Malaysian roads maintain valid registration and tax documentation. Officials have indicated that the enforcement action will remain an ongoing priority for the department.
