JSW Energy crosses 15 GW operational capacity milestone with renewables dominance

JSW Energy announced Friday that its total operational capacity has exceeded 15 gigawatt (GW), marking a significant milestone in the company's energy generation portfolio. Of the 15,025 megawatt (MW) operational capacity, renewable energy accounts for 9,067 MW, underlining the company's pivot toward cleaner power generation.

The renewable energy mix comprises wind power at 3,125 MW, solar capacity of 2,426 MW, hybrid installations totalling 1,735 MW, and hydroelectric generation of 1,781 MW. The company's thermal portfolio remains at 5,958 MW, representing 40 per cent of total operational capacity.

JSW Energy said it remains aligned with its greenfield capacity addition target of 3 GW for fiscal year 2027, having completed approximately 42 per cent of this expansion target to date. The company's renewable energy focus reflects broader industry trends as India accelerates its transition toward non-fossil fuel-based power generation to meet national climate commitments.
