JSW Steel lifts Q2 output 5% to 7.27 million tonnes

JSW Steel announced Thursday that its consolidated crude steel production climbed to 7.27 million tonnes in the second quarter of the current financial year, up from 6.95 million tonnes in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The company's domestic operations mirrored this growth trajectory, lifting output to 7.07 million tonnes from 6.73 million tonnes year-on-year.

Capacity utilisation at JSW Steel's Indian facilities reached 88 per cent during the July-September quarter, with improvements noted as the quarter progressed. By September 2026, utilisation improved to approximately 90 per cent as the company's Blast Furnace 3 at its Vijayanagar plant gradually resumed full-scale production following a planned shutdown for capacity enhancement work.

For the first half of FY2026-27, JSW Steel's consolidated production expanded 4 per cent to 13.86 million tonnes compared to 13.32 million tonnes in the corresponding half-year period, according to the company's regulatory filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange. The incremental gains reflect improving operational momentum across the company's portfolio as it advances its expansion initiatives.
