Kaepernick to receive Muhammad Ali humanitarian award

Colin Kaepernick, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback whose on-field protests sparked a national conversation about race and police brutality in the United States, has been named the recipient of the Muhammad Ali Center's Humanitarian of the Year award.
The Muhammad Ali Center announced the honour on Tuesday, recognising Kaepernick's decade-long advocacy for racial justice. The award ceremony will be held in Louisville, Kentucky, on November 7.
Kaepernick became one of America's most prominent athlete activists when he began kneeling during the national anthem in 2016 to protest systemic racism and police violence against Black Americans. His actions sparked widespread debate and were emulated by athletes across multiple sports globally.
