Kakinada Gateway Port to open first berth by early 2027

Construction of critical breakwater facilities at Kakinada Gateway Port has been completed, positioning the Andhra Pradesh terminal to commission its first berth by early 2027. The South and North Breakwater structures, essential for protecting vessel operations from maritime elements, have reached completion status, marking a significant milestone in the port's development timeline.

Railway infrastructure planning has also progressed substantially, with Indian Railways granting formal consent for a dedicated rail track to connect the port to national networks. The railway connectivity project, estimated at ₹400 crore, is expected to substantially enhance cargo movement capacity and improve the port's integration with domestic supply chains.

Kakinada Gateway Port, designed as a deep-water facility on the Andhra Pradesh coast, is positioned to emerge as a key cargo hub for the region. The combination of maritime infrastructure and rail linkage is anticipated to facilitate efficient movement of containers, bulk cargo, and other containerized freight to inland destinations across India.

The port's development comes as regional authorities pursue infrastructure expansion initiatives to boost maritime commerce and support industrial growth.
