Kanchi Dham to require advance registration to manage visitor crowds

Administrative officials have determined that advance visitor data is essential for managing the logistics at Kanchi Dham, one of the region's major pilgrimage sites. Without knowing how many devotees are expected on any given day, comprehensive planning for essential services becomes difficult, according to district authorities.

The District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police have jointly recommended implementing a mandatory registration system for pilgrims. They plan to submit this proposal to state administration for formal approval and implementation.

Under the proposed system, advance registration would provide administrators with critical information needed to coordinate multiple services. These include vehicle parking arrangements, traffic flow management, shuttle service operations, security deployment, and crowd management within the temple premises.

The registration requirement is expected to help distribute visitor flow more evenly and prevent the congestion issues that occur during peak pilgrimage seasons. Officials believe the data-driven approach will improve the overall experience for devotees while ensuring public safety and facility management.
