Bayern Munich and Arsenal played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in the Champions League on Wednesday, with England internationals Kane and Rice at the centre of an evenly contested encounter between two continental giants.
Kane opened the scoring for Bayern in the second half from the penalty spot and assisted Alphonso Davies to put the German side ahead, but Arsenal refused to be subdued. Eberechi Eze had given the London club an early advantage before Rice levelled the tie with just eight minutes remaining, combining with Viktor Gyokeres to find the back of the net and earn his side a valuable point.
The performance extended Kane's remarkable streak in European football's premier club competition. The striker now has 16 goals across 23 career matches against Arsenal, having netted against the Gunners every season from 2014-15 through to 2023-24, primarily during his years with Tottenham. Wednesday's goal marked his 10th consecutive Champions League match with a goal, bringing him within striking distance of Cristiano Ronaldo's record of 11 consecutive games, set in 2017 and 2018.
"We had some good moments, just not enough over the full 90 minutes," Kane reflected on the result. The draw leaves both clubs seeking improvement in their European campaigns as the competition progresses.
