Kanlaon Volcano Continues Activity With Fresh Ash Emissions
Kanlaon Volcano released ash into the atmosphere Sunday morning, continuing its volcanic activity after a moderately explosive eruption the previous day. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology documented the event and urged continued monitoring of the active volcano.

Kanlaon Volcano emitted ash Sunday at 5:15 a.m., according to monitoring data from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The ash column generated a grayish plume that ascended approximately 600 meters above the summit crater before drifting away from the immediate vicinity.
The Sunday morning emissions follow a moderately explosive eruption recorded on Saturday, indicating sustained volcanic unrest at the volcano located in Negros Island. Phivolcs documented the activity through ground-based monitoring and visual observations.
The volcano remains under close surveillance by Phivolcs as part of standard monitoring protocols for active volcanic zones in the Philippines. Authorities continue to assess volcanic hazards and provide updates to local government units and residents in nearby communities.
Kanlaon, one of the Philippines' most active volcanoes, periodically exhibits eruptive activity. The current sequence of emissions underscores the dynamic geological processes affecting the region and the importance of sustained volcano monitoring in a country situated along the Pacific Ring of Fire.
