The Office of the Civil Defense issued a public advisory Saturday following volcanic activity at Kanlaon, one of the Philippines' active volcanoes located on Negros Island. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) documented a substantial ash emission at 11:23 a.m., which rose 150 meters above the summit crater.

The warning alerts residents across the northern portion of Negros Island to prepare for potential ashfall as prevailing winds carry volcanic materials downwind from the eruption site. Authorities have advised residents in affected areas to take precautions including the use of protective masks and to secure outdoor equipment.

Phivolcs continues to monitor Kanlaon's volcanic activity. The volcano, situated at the northern tip of Negros Island, remains under close observation by the agency's network of seismic instruments and surveillance stations.

Residents are urged to stay informed through official government channels and follow any additional advisories or updates from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology and the Office of the Civil Defense.
