Kannur rolls out double-decker bus for festive sightseeing during Dasara

In a move to enhance tourist engagement during the festive season, the Kannur Corporation has introduced a double-decker bus service offering sightseeing tours across the city's illuminated neighbourhoods. The service, jointly operated through the corporation and the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation's Budget Tourism Cell, provides residents and visitors an opportunity to experience the vibrant decorations and colourful illuminations that characterise the Dasara celebrations in Kannur.

The sightseeing service will remain operational for 10 days, allowing participants to traverse key areas of the city adorned with festive installations. The initiative represents an effort by local authorities to create accessible tourism experiences during one of Kerala's major festival periods.

The continuation of the double-decker bus service beyond its initial 10-day run will be contingent upon public response and ridership numbers. Officials plan to evaluate feedback from both residents and tourists to determine whether the service warrants extension or further development.

The Budget Tourism Cell's involvement underscores efforts to promote cost-effective tourism infrastructure in the region. Such initiatives aim to balance economic benefits with enhanced visitor experiences during peak festival seasons.
