Kanpur businessman arrested over Thai woman's marriage fraud complaint

Kanpur police arrested Mohammed Irfan, a tannery business operator, based on a complaint filed by a Thai national identified as Apsorn. The woman alleged that Irfan fraudulently married her under false pretenses, allegedly appropriated sports motorcycles valued at approximately ₹55 lakh, and pressured her to convert her religion.

According to the complaint, Apsorn claimed she was deceived during the marriage process and subsequently faced demands to change her faith. The allegations have prompted police to launch an investigation into the matter.

Denying the accusations, Irfan's mother has come forward to defend her son, asserting that he is innocent and has fallen victim to blackmail. She rejected the charges leveled against him and suggested the complaint may be motivated by ulterior motives.

The case highlights ongoing tensions in the complaint, with both parties presenting conflicting narratives. Police said they are conducting further investigations to establish the facts surrounding the marriage, the alleged appropriation of the motorcycles, and claims of religious coercion.

The case is currently under investigation, and authorities are examining evidence and statements from both sides to determine the veracity of the allegations made by the Thai national.
