Karnataka aims to develop Jog Falls as year-round tourism hub

Water Resources Minister K.J. George has announced the state government's intention to develop Jog Falls, one of India's most iconic waterfalls, as a year-round tourism destination. The initiative aims to boost economic activity and employment in the region while preserving the natural heritage of the site located in Uttara Kannada district.

Currently, Jog Falls draws significant visitor numbers primarily during the monsoon season when water discharge peaks. The proposed development seeks to create sustained tourist interest across all seasons by enhancing infrastructure and visitor facilities at the destination.

The minister's vision includes improving accessibility, accommodation options, and recreational amenities to make the location attractive to tourists regardless of seasonal water flow variations. Such developments would complement the falls' natural splendor and provide year-round economic benefits to local communities.
