Karnataka DC directs officials to address water, fodder crisis in drought-hit Gadag

The District Commissioner of Gadag in Karnataka has issued instructions to administrative officials to conduct a thorough review of drought conditions across the district and take immediate measures to address water and fodder shortages. The directive came as part of ongoing efforts to mitigate the impact of water scarcity on residents and livestock in drought-affected areas. Officials have been tasked with preparing detailed taluk-wise lists identifying villages experiencing acute water scarcity, enabling targeted intervention and resource allocation. The assessment is expected to provide district administration with a clear picture of the severity and geographical spread of water-related challenges across Gadag's various administrative blocks. The move reflects growing concern over the availability of potable water and animal fodder in rural areas, which have been hit particularly hard by dry weather conditions. Authorities have also been directed to coordinate with relevant departments to ensure adequate supply chains for both drinking water and livestock feed reach vulnerable communities. The district administration plans to use the compiled data to formulate and implement relief measures, including water tanker operations and fodder distribution programmes where needed.
