Karnataka govt shielding accused in sting, exam cases: HDK

H.D. Kumaraswamy, the Janata Dal (Secular) leader and former Chief Minister, levelled serious charges against the present State administration on Wednesday, claiming it was working to shield accused persons in two high-profile cases involving alleged misconduct.

Kumaraswamy's allegations specifically reference a sting operation and irregularities in KPSC recruitment processes. The former Chief Minister contended that the government was attempting to suppress investigations and obstruct the course of justice, though he did not provide specific details about the identities of the accused or the exact nature of the alleged protection.

The charges add to mounting friction between the State government and the opposition. Kumaraswamy's JD(S) has been critical of governance issues under the current administration, particularly regarding allegations of corruption and administrative lapses.

The KPSC has faced multiple controversies in recent years over question paper leaks and irregularities in the examination process, issues that have drawn scrutiny from both opposition parties and civil society groups. The sting operation referenced by Kumaraswamy remains unclear, though such operations in Karnataka have frequently involved allegations against public officials and political figures.
