The High Court of Karnataka has appointed ADGP Hitendra to lead the Special Investigation Team tasked with probing alleged malpractices in Karnataka Public Service Commission examinations. The appointment comes as the court seeks to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation into the matter that has drawn significant public attention.
In its order, the High Court has also directed the Karnataka State government to refrain from transferring any members of the SIT out of Bengaluru until the investigation is concluded. This directive aims to maintain continuity in the probe and prevent any potential disruption to the investigative process.
The SIT's mandate includes examining allegations of irregularities in the KPSC recruitment process. The High Court's intervention and the appointment of senior police leadership to oversee the investigation underscores the judiciary's commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in the state's civil services examination system.
The court's order to restrict transfers of SIT personnel is intended to safeguard the investigation from administrative interference and ensure that the team can work uninterrupted on the matter. The specific nature and scope of the irregularities under investigation are expected to be detailed in the SIT's forthcoming reports to the High Court.
