Kharge said the government had begun looking into the matter following receipt of information about the situation. However, he noted that no formal complaint has yet been lodged by Gangwar's family or any other party. "The information came a couple of days ago. No formal complaint has been lodged by his family or anyone else," the minister stated in response to media queries.
The development came to public attention following media reports on Saturday morning. Authorities have reportedly initiated efforts to trace the senior IAS officer's whereabouts.
