Karnataka's tourism department has embarked on a series of roadshows across major UK cities to reverse the downward trend in non-resident Indian tourist arrivals to the state. The campaign seeks to reconnect the diaspora with Karnataka's diverse offerings, from the coffee plantations and waterfalls of Coorg to the temples and heritage sites of Hampi and Mysore.
State tourism officials are participating in the roadshows to present information about domestic flight connectivity, accommodation options, and travel packages tailored for NRI visitors. The promotional events are being held in partnership with travel operators and hospitality businesses to facilitate direct engagement with potential tourists.
The declining NRI footfall has prompted Karnataka to explore targeted marketing strategies beyond traditional advertising. Tourism authorities believe the UK market represents significant potential, given the substantial Kannada-speaking diaspora and long-standing cultural ties between the community and their home state.
The roadshow initiative comes as several Indian states have intensified efforts to attract international tourists following global travel disruptions. Tourism officials expect the on-ground presence and direct interaction to address specific concerns of NRI travelers while showcasing Karnataka's competitive advantages as a tourist destination.
