Karnataka minister lauds founders' legacy as state welfare schemes expand reach

Officials gathered at the District Sports Ground in Yadgir to commemorate Kannada Rajyotsava, the annual celebration marking Karnataka's linguistic reorganisation. State minister Sharan Prakash Patil used the occasion to pay tribute to the sacrifices made by key figures in the state's unification movement.

Patil underscored the government's commitment to social welfare, noting that five major guarantee schemes have been rolled out across the state. The minister stated that these programmes have been effectively implemented to ensure coverage reaches intended beneficiaries in eligible categories.

Kannada Rajyotsava, observed on November 1st each year, commemorates the formation of Karnataka state following the linguistic reorganisation of Indian states in 1956. The celebration serves as a focal point for state officials to review governance initiatives and highlight development achievements.

The welfare schemes represent a cornerstone of the state government's policy agenda, with officials emphasizing their reach and operational effectiveness as key performance indicators. The Yadgir event reflected broader efforts to connect state-level policy announcements with grassroots implementation across the region.
