Karnataka must emulate Tamil Nadu on Cauvery protection, says BJP leader

Deputy Leader of the Opposition Arvind Bellad has accused Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and the Karnataka government of inadequately protecting the state's interests regarding the Cauvery river and its share of waters. Speaking on the contentious interstate water issue, Bellad suggested that Karnataka should adopt Tamil Nadu's strategy in securing its water allocation and supporting farmers during periods of agricultural distress.

The Cauvery river, which flows through both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, has been a source of prolonged dispute between the two states over water-sharing arrangements.
