Karnataka Opposition Leader to Meet NICE Project-Affected Farmers

H.D. Kumaraswamy, a senior opposition figure in Karnataka, will undertake a grassroots tour starting October 2 to engage with communities affected by the NICE (North-South Corridor) project. The visit will see him travel through villages along the proposed corridor alignment to directly interact with displaced farmers and affected families.

During his outreach, Kumaraswamy will listen to representations from landowners who have lost agricultural property to the infrastructure initiative. The farmer interactions are expected to focus on land acquisition-related concerns and compensation issues arising from the project.

Kumaraswamy has indicated his intention to champion the cause of affected residents, stating he will contest the project on their behalf. His village tour reflects the mounting concerns among farming communities regarding the corridor's implementation and its impact on local livelihoods.

The NICE project, aimed at improving connectivity in the region, has faced criticism from sections of the population over its land acquisition policies.
