Police in Karnataka's Ballari district have registered a first information report following allegations that a BJP agent sought to delete voter entries and verify details against 7,561 names, according to a complaint filed by Congress legislator Goutham S. The FIR was lodged at Brucepet police station on October 1.
Form-7, a critical electoral document used to register deletions from voter rolls, has emerged as a focal point of electoral irregularities in the state. The case represents the sixth such FIR registered in Karnataka related to misuse of the form, indicating a pattern of concerns over voter list management in recent months.
The complaint alleges involvement of a party agent in seeking unauthorized modifications to electoral records in the Ballari constituency. Election officials have stepped up scrutiny of Form-7 applications and related processes following repeated reports of mishandling across multiple districts.
Karnataka's election machinery has intensified oversight mechanisms to prevent unauthorized tampering with voter rolls ahead of upcoming electoral cycles. The state election commission is coordinating with law enforcement agencies to investigate irregularities and ensure the integrity of electoral processes.
