Karnataka police probe alleged attacks on forest staff, anti-poaching camps

The Criminal Investigation Department in Karnataka has assumed control of four cases related to alleged attacks on forest department staff and anti-poaching camps in the Cauvery and Male Mahadeshwara wildlife sanctuaries near Hanur.
According to reports, the incidents resulted in extensive damage to forest infrastructure across the region. Eleven anti-poaching camps and government staff quarters were either vandalised or damaged, with preliminary investigations suggesting some facilities were destroyed using explosives. Government vehicles stationed at the locations also sustained damage during the alleged attacks.
The transfer of cases to the state's criminal investigation wing indicates authorities are treating the incidents as serious crimes requiring specialized investigative expertise. The sanctuaries, located in the Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka, are significant biodiversity zones that require enhanced security protocols to prevent wildlife poaching and illegal activities.
