Karnataka pushes ration card e-KYC verification deadline to November 10

The Karnataka government has extended the e-KYC deadline for ration card holders to November 10, providing citizens with more time to complete the digital verification process. The decision comes as authorities seek to ensure wider compliance with the electronic authentication requirement across the state's public distribution system.

The e-KYC process involves the collection and verification of biometric and personal information from ration card beneficiaries through digital channels. Officials had initially set an earlier deadline but acknowledged the need for an extension to accommodate the large number of beneficiaries who have not yet completed the verification.

The state's food and civil supplies department said the extended timeline would help reduce last-minute processing congestion and allow citizens adequate opportunity to visit authorized verification centers. Residents have been advised to complete their e-KYC formalities at designated fair price shops or designated verification centers to maintain their eligibility for subsidized food grains under the public distribution scheme.

The move reflects the government's ongoing digitalization efforts aimed at streamlining the distribution of essential commodities while ensuring that genuine beneficiaries do not face service disruptions due to incomplete documentation.
