Karnataka seeks industry partnerships to strengthen PM-SETU vocational training initiative

Officials in Karnataka have stressed the importance of active cooperation between government and industry stakeholders for the effective implementation of the PM-SETU (Pradhan Mantri Skill Enhancement Through Practical Training Uplift) scheme in the state.
The state is home to 270 government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) that could benefit significantly from industry participation and support. Government representatives have signalled openness to allowing private sector entities to adopt these institutions, viewing such partnerships as mutually beneficial arrangements.
The push for greater collaboration comes as vocational training remains a critical component of India's skill development agenda. By facilitating industry involvement in ITI management and curriculum development, officials believe the scheme can better align training outcomes with market demands and employment opportunities.
State authorities have indicated they would welcome proposals from industrial organizations interested in sponsoring or adopting government ITIs. Such partnerships are expected to enhance infrastructure, modernize training facilities, and improve placement prospects for students completing vocational courses across Karnataka.
