Karnataka to streamline recruitment with unified exam for multiple posts
The Karnataka Examination Authority will conduct a single competitive examination for equivalent positions across 33 government departments, following a common entrance test model. Selected candidates will be allocated to various posts through a centralised counselling process.

The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has decided to adopt a unified recruitment model to fill multiple vacancies across various state departments simultaneously. Under this new system, a single competitive examination will be conducted for positions deemed equivalent across 33 departments, eliminating the need for separate recruitment drives for each cadre.
The decision represents a significant shift in Karnataka's public sector hiring methodology, aimed at improving efficiency and reducing the time taken to fill vacant posts. By consolidating recruitment for similar positions across departments, the authority hopes to streamline administrative processes and ensure standardised evaluation criteria.
Candidates who qualify the examination will be allocated to specific posts and departments through a centralised counselling procedure, similar to the Common Entrance Test (CET) model. This approach is expected to provide greater transparency and offer candidates flexibility in selecting positions based on their merit and preferences.
The KEA's move aligns with broader efforts across Indian states to modernise recruitment practices and reduce delays in filling government positions. The unified examination framework is expected to reduce administrative redundancy while maintaining the integrity of the selection process across multiple departments.
