Karnataka voter deletion forms missing from public portal, raising transparency concerns
Nearly 29,000 applications for voter deletion in Karnataka are not available for public scrutiny, despite official commitments to transparency. The discrepancy has emerged between forms received by electoral authorities and those displayed on the official portal.

The Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer's office received 1,10,654 Form 7 applications—used to request deletion from voter rolls—between June 16 and October 8, according to a statement issued on October 9. However, only 81,822 of these applications were made available on the official portal for public inspection, leaving approximately 28,832 forms inaccessible to the public.
The missing forms represent roughly 26 percent of all deletion applications received during the period. This gap between the total number of forms processed and those displayed on the portal raises questions about the completeness of public access to electoral records.
Both the Chief Electoral Officer and the Election Commission of India had previously committed to making details of all Form 7 applications available for public scrutiny. Such transparency measures are intended to allow citizens and election observers to monitor voter deletion processes and flag potential irregularities.
The reasons for the absence of nearly 29,000 applications from the public portal remain unclear. Electoral officials have not yet provided an explanation for the discrepancy or clarified whether the missing forms will be uploaded to ensure full transparency in the voter deletion process.
