Kashmir police arrest five terror associates in major security operation

Police in Kulgam district, along with the 9RR unit and the 18th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), arrested five terror associates during a coordinated operation on October 7. The arrests were made in the Khurwani Chader area of Kulgam following actionable intelligence, according to law enforcement officials.

The operation resulted in the seizure of significant quantities of arms and ammunition. Police recovered two pistols, three magazines, 40 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and three hand grenades from the arrested individuals. The cache of weapons and explosives suggests the operation may have disrupted plans for a larger attack.

The arrests represent part of ongoing efforts by security forces to dismantle support networks that facilitate terrorist activities across Kashmir. The recovery of military-grade weapons indicates the involvement of organized militant groups in the region. Authorities have registered cases against the arrested individuals and further investigation is underway to establish their exact role in militant operations and identify possible links to larger terror networks.

The joint operation underscores the coordination between state police and central paramilitary forces in counter-insurgency efforts in the Union Territory. Security officials have intensified operations across Kashmir in recent months to prevent militant attacks and disrupt supply chains supporting armed groups.
