Kashmir's Inspector General of Police announced the sweeping anti-drug operation during his inaugural press conference following his appointment to the post. The coordinated enforcement action represents a significant escalation in the region's fight against drug trafficking and related financial crimes.

Authorities have attached properties belonging to drug peddlers valued at several crores of rupees as part of the operation. The financial dimension of the crackdown extends beyond property seizures, with police recovering approximately Rs 1.10 crore in cash during raids and investigations.

The freeze on bank accounts targets financial networks suspected of facilitating drug trade operations. The move aims to disrupt the financial infrastructure supporting narcotics trafficking in the valley and prevent further illegal transactions.

The large-scale operation reflects mounting pressure on law enforcement agencies to contain drug-related criminal activity in Jammu and Kashmir. With nearly 2,000 arrests registered, the crackdown represents one of the region's more substantial enforcement efforts against narcotics-related offences in recent times.
