The Korean Broadcasting System's Malaysian counterpart, the Kuala Lumpur Sports Commission (KBS), has issued conditional approval for the Hyrox obstacle course racing event to take place in the capital, pending strict adherence to safety protocols.
The decision was reached following negotiations with event organisers, who committed to full compliance with Article 5.2 of the Safe Sport Code. This provision establishes mandatory safety standards and participant protection measures for sports events conducted within the country.
Hyrox is an international hybrid fitness competition combining running and obstacle challenges, attracting thousands of participants globally. The Kuala Lumpur edition represents one of Southeast Asia's major sporting events on the calendar.
Organisers must now implement all required safety measures and submit documentation confirming compliance prior to the event's commencement. KBS officials indicated they will conduct oversight throughout the event to ensure all conditions are met and participants' wellbeing is safeguarded.
The approval reflects authorities' commitment to facilitating major sporting events while maintaining rigorous safety and welfare standards for athletes and spectators.
