Kedah, Negeri Sembilan flood relief centres shut as waters recede

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 31 — Authorities have closed all temporary relief centres in Kedah and Negeri Sembilan following the complete subsidence of floodwaters in both states, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing disaster response efforts.

The closure of the facilities indicates that flood conditions have normalised sufficiently for residents to return to their homes. State disaster management agencies have been coordinating the orderly wind-down of relief operations, including the distribution of remaining supplies and the transition of support services.

Meanwhile, the evacuation situation in Perak continues to improve, with the number of displaced persons falling to 25 as floodwaters recede across the state. Emergency response teams remain on standby to provide assistance to remaining evacuees and monitor water levels in critical areas.

Authorities have urged residents in flood-prone areas to remain vigilant and prepared for potential weather developments, while praising the swift response of relief workers and community volunteers throughout the affected regions.
