Officers from the Kalutara District Office of the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) have initiated legal proceedings against two Keells Super outlets operated by J.K. Marketing Services (Pvt) Ltd, with cases lodged before the Panadura Magistrate's Court.
The enforcement action follows investigations that revealed multiple consumer protection violations at the supermarket branches. Authorities identified instances where eggs were sold at prices exceeding those marked on packaging, while price labels on other food products had been altered from their original denominations.
Additionally, inspectors discovered expired soft drinks on the shelves of both outlets, constituting a potential health and safety risk to consumers. The CAA has not disclosed further details regarding the specific branches involved or the extent of the violations.
