Kelantan UMNO delegate apologises to PAS at party assembly

A delegate from Kelantan expressed regret towards PAS at UMNO's annual general assembly on Tuesday, in a gesture aimed at easing tensions between the two Malay-Muslim parties that have been political rivals for decades.

The apology highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation within UMNO's coalition framework, particularly in states where the party shares governance with PAS. Kelantan has been governed by PAS since 1990, with UMNO recently seeking to improve working relations with its coalition partner.

Separately, representatives from Kedah proposed a significant administrative change during the assembly proceedings. The Kedah delegation suggested rebranding the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to PKRM, signalling potential discussions around institutional reform within government structures.

The proposals emerged from various state delegations attending the assembly, reflecting diverse priorities across UMNO's membership base. The gathering provided a platform for regional representatives to raise matters of concern affecting their respective states and the party's broader political strategy moving forward.
