The Kerala government announced a major housing rehabilitation package for survivors of the devastating 2019 Vaniyampuzha floods, allocating ₹2.46 crore for reconstruction efforts. The allocation was announced by the Minister for Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes during an Assembly session, following a submission by Nilambur MLA Aryadan Shoukath.
The relief scheme will provide ₹6 lakh per family to support house construction and rehabilitation. The announcement marks a significant step towards assisting families who lost their homes in the natural disaster, with particular focus on vulnerable communities in the flood-affected region.
The funds are aimed at enabling affected families to rebuild their homes and restore their livelihoods following the catastrophic floods. State authorities are expected to initiate the disbursement process to eligible beneficiaries through established administrative channels to ensure timely and transparent distribution of the housing assistance.
