The opposition staged a walkout from the Kerala Legislative Assembly on Tuesday following the Speaker's rejection of an adjournment motion aimed at discussing alleged government attempts to undermine the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB). The walkout marked an escalation in tensions over the fund's future direction and the government's developmental agenda. Leader of Opposition V.D. Satheesan contended that the government remained under a legal obligation to continue ongoing projects financed through the KIIFB. The principal opposition front had sought to raise concerns about potential constraints on the fund's operations and their impact on critical infrastructure initiatives across the state. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan responded to the opposition's concerns by reaffirming the government's commitment to completing projects currently underway. He maintained that developmental works funded through the KIIFB would proceed without interruption. The KIIFB, established as a nodal agency for infrastructure financing, has been instrumental in funding major projects across Kerala's urban and rural areas. The dispute underscores broader disagreements between the government and opposition regarding fiscal priorities and project implementation strategies in the state.
