Kerala authorities step up disaster preparedness as rough weather looms

District officials in Kozhikode have initiated precautionary measures to protect residents as the region braces for rough weather conditions. Local administrative bodies and gram panchayat officials have been tasked with identifying and evacuating people living in vulnerable locations to designated safer zones.

The directive comes as part of a coordinated disaster management strategy aimed at minimizing casualties and property damage during natural calamities. Village officers have been instructed to conduct door-to-door assessments in high-risk areas, including flood-prone zones, low-lying regions, and areas susceptible to landslides.

Relief camps are being prepared across the district to accommodate evacuees with essential facilities including food, water, and medical support. Officials have also been directed to maintain regular communication with affected communities and ensure timely updates on weather conditions.

Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable areas to cooperate with evacuation orders and move to safer locations or designated relief camps as instructed. The administration has also activated emergency response teams and positioned relief supplies at strategic locations across Kozhikode district to ensure rapid deployment if required.
