Kerala begins major junction development project in Vattiyurkavu

The Kerala Road Fund Board has entrusted the Vattiyurkavu junction development project to the Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society, with civil works set to begin on September 14. The project encompasses a comprehensive range of infrastructure improvements designed to enhance connectivity and modernise utilities in the region.

The scope of work includes construction of new roads and resurfacing of existing stretches, alongside the installation of culverts to manage drainage and water flow. Retaining walls will be constructed to provide structural support and prevent soil erosion in the area.

A significant component of the project involves the relocation of utility lines, including water supply, electricity, and telecommunications infrastructure. These works are essential to prevent conflicts between surface transportation and underground utilities, ensuring safe and efficient operations.

The contract awarded to the cooperative society reflects Kerala's commitment to leveraging local labour resources for infrastructure development. The project is expected to decongest the junction and improve traffic flow while strengthening the underlying utility network to support future growth in the area.
