Kerala bolsters firefighting capacity with 141 new recruits

Kerala's Fire and Rescue Services Academy in Viyyur has successfully trained and commissioned 141 new recruits in firefighting, rescue operations, and disaster management, marking a significant expansion of the state's emergency response workforce.

Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala highlighted the importance of swift emergency response during the passing-out ceremony, noting that rapid deployment of trained personnel forms the backbone of effective disaster management. The newly trained recruits are equipped with skills covering fire suppression, search and rescue operations, and coordinated response to natural and man-made disasters.

The graduation reflects Kerala's ongoing efforts to strengthen its disaster response infrastructure, particularly relevant given the state's vulnerability to seasonal flooding and other climatic emergencies. The recruitment drive aims to ensure adequate personnel availability across fire stations and rescue units throughout the state.

With these 141 additions to its force, Kerala continues to build organizational capacity to meet evolving challenges in emergency management. The trained personnel will be deployed across various divisions to enhance coverage and reduce response times during critical situations.
