Kerala cabinet charts future course at IIM-K strategic retreat

Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan inaugurated the 'Reimagining Keralam' workshop at the Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode on Tuesday, formally opening a two-day strategic planning session for the state cabinet. The initiative brings together senior government officials with faculty from IIM-K and international experts to deliberate on pressing policy issues facing the southern state.
The retreat's agenda encompasses a broad spectrum of developmental challenges, including the adoption of artificial intelligence in governance, building climate resilience in the face of environmental threats, strengthening public health infrastructure, and addressing the demographic shift toward an ageing population. Employment generation and higher education reform feature prominently among the topics slated for discussion.
Fiscal sustainability—a critical concern for state governments navigating limited resources and competing development priorities—is also expected to form a central pillar of the workshop deliberations. The participation of international institutional experts is intended to expose Kerala's leadership to global best practices and contemporary approaches to governance challenges.
The two-day engagement represents the government's effort to align Kerala's policy frameworks with emerging opportunities and challenges, leveraging expert insights to inform strategic decision-making at the cabinet level.
