Kerala Chief Minister dissolves Loka Kerala Sabha citing unmet objectives

The Kerala government has formally dissolved the Loka Kerala Sabha, marking an end to the diaspora engagement initiative that had been in operation for several years. The decision was announced by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who attributed the move to the body's inability to meet its core objectives and deliver on its stated mandate.

The Loka Kerala Sabha was conceived as a dedicated platform to strengthen ties between the state government and Keralites living abroad, facilitating knowledge transfer, investment opportunities, and cultural exchange. The organization was intended to harness the potential of the extensive Kerala diaspora, particularly in the Gulf states, North America, and Southeast Asia, for the state's development initiatives.

According to officials, the dissolution decision reflects a strategic reassessment of how best to engage with the diaspora community. The Chief Minister indicated that the state would explore alternative mechanisms to connect with overseas Keralites and leverage their expertise and resources for the state's growth agenda.

The move comes as part of broader governance restructuring within the Kerala administration. The government has not specified whether successor programs or modified engagement frameworks will be established to maintain diaspora relations moving forward.
