Kerala CM accuses CPI(M) of scapegoating Govindan for poll defeat
Chief Minister Pinarayi Satheesan has criticized the Communist Party of India (Marxist) for using former party secretary M.V. Govindan as a scapegoat for the Left Democratic Front's poor performance in recent Kerala assembly elections.

Satheesan leveled the charge after the CPI(M)'s extended State committee meeting concluded in Kozhikode on Tuesday, contending that the party's proceedings had deliberately obscured the genuine factors behind the LDF's historic electoral setback.
The Kerala Chief Minister, who leads the Indian National Congress-dominated UDF government that swept the assembly polls, argued that attributing the LDF's collapse primarily to Govindan's leadership misled the public discourse on the outcome.
Govindan, who served as the CPI(M) State secretary, had been viewed as a central figure in the party's electoral strategy leading up to the assembly elections. The CPI(M)'s decision-making process following the defeat has drawn scrutiny from various political observers across the state.
Satheesan's remarks reflect the ongoing political turbulence in Kerala following the UDF's decisive victory and the LDF's substantial losses. The Kerala Chief Minister's statement suggests deeper organizational challenges within the Left alliance that extend beyond individual party functionaries.
