Kerala CM pushes for global spread of Sree Narayana Guru's philosophy

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has stressed the importance of spreading the philosophical and social teachings of Sree Narayana Guru across the globe, recognizing the reformer's enduring relevance to contemporary society. The Kerala government has committed to advancing this mission through concrete institutional initiatives.

In his recently presented Revised Budget for 2026-27, Vijayan announced plans to establish a monumental statue and cultural centre dedicated to Sree Narayana Guru in the national capital. The project represents a significant step toward bringing the 19th-century social reformer's ideas to a national and international audience.

Sree Narayana Guru, a pivotal figure in Kerala's social history, championed principles of social equality, education, and spiritual reform. His message of "one caste, one religion, one God for mankind" challenged prevailing social hierarchies and continues to inspire reform movements across South Asia.

The proposed New Delhi centre is intended to serve as both a memorial and an educational hub, facilitating scholarly discourse and public engagement with Narayana Guru's transformative teachings. State officials view the initiative as essential to ensuring the guru's legacy influences contemporary debates on social justice and inclusive development.
