Kerala court sentences man to 47 years imprisonment in child sexual abuse case

A fast-track court in Malappuram district has imposed a substantial sentence on a man found guilty of sexual offences against a child, underscoring the judiciary's commitment to protecting minors from abuse. The 47-year rigorous imprisonment order reflects the serious nature of the crime and the need for stringent deterrence against such offences.

In addition to the custodial sentence, the court recognised the need for comprehensive victim support and directed the District Legal Services Authority to facilitate additional monetary compensation to the survivor. This direction ensures the victim receives assistance under the established victim compensation scheme, addressing both immediate and long-term needs arising from the trauma experienced.
