Kerala electricity regulator to seek public input on new tariff norms

The Kerala Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has announced consultations on proposed tariff regulations that will shape electricity pricing across the state for the next regulatory cycle. The consultations, to be held in both morning and afternoon sessions, will take place on September 29 and 30 in a hybrid format to accommodate wider participation from stakeholders.

These draft tariff norms represent a critical framework for determining how electricity charges will be structured and implemented during the five-year control period commencing April 2027. The regulations will address key aspects of tariff determination, including cost recovery mechanisms, cross-subsidization policies, and consumer categories across Kerala's power sector.

The hybrid consultation format reflects the KERC's commitment to inclusive stakeholder engagement, allowing representatives from utilities, consumer groups, industries, and the general public to participate either in person or remotely.
